….The saxophone owes its development (mechanical aspects, artists and repertoire) to people from many different countries. A most recent contributor is saxophonist Stathis Mavrommatis, an outstanding artist who is promoting the classical saxophone in Greece….His tone is warm and passionate with a judicious and excellent use of vibrato. His technique is precise and very clean. One of the most impressive aspects of his playing is his ability to spin the melodic line into thoughtful fantasies that sweep up the listener….

….Soprano saxophone shine in Louisiana Sinfonietta concert….The rarely used soprano saxophone took the spotlight for the concert’s Constantinides piece….the concerto found a talented front man in Stathis Mavrommatis..Mavrommatis displayed warm tone and clear articulation….

John Wirt-The Advocate People (newspaper), April 19, 2005, Baton Rouge LA, USA-Louisiana Sinfonietta Concert at First Baptist Church

....The performance is strong and sensitive throughout, with an emotional underlay that springs from the highly personal nature of the project, an individual player’s tribute to his fellow countrymen and their contribution to the international saxophone repertoire….

Alison Owen-Morley-Clarinet & Saxophone, Vol.32, Nr.3, Autumn 2007-12-15

...for the greek saxophonist Stathis Mavrommatis, this is a showcase for his remarkable virtuosity mixed with a gorgeous creamy tone...

….I listened to it more than once with immense admiration for your impressive work together with Christina Panteli and Dimitri Dessila. The quality of the CD and the clarity of the performance is stunning….It is rare that I find CDs with works that keep me totally interested from beginning to end and I have to admit that your CD kept me captivated throughout even at multiple hearings. I congratulate you and your collaborators for this superb contribution to the world of recorded music. I will share your CD by depositing it in our Music Library at Lakehead University so it can be also enjoyed by our students and faculty….

Aris Carastathis, Ph.D.-Chair, Department of Music, Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada-email message of April 5, 2007

….the modality and contrasts heard in Music for Bill (alto saxophone and strings), a memorial piece for Bill Harbin, produces a fine aural effect in this moving tribute to the composer’s departed friend. Saxophonist Stathis Mavrommatis produces a suave tone and exquisite phrasing….

…The soloist is clearly a musician of the front rank, and his partner gets excellent playing from the leading orchestra in Bulgaria. The recording quality, too, is very good. The soloist’s playing is a constant joy and I really enjoyed this collection of what one might call “warm Mediterranean music”.

James Palmer on Musical Opinion Issue Nr. 1483/July August 2011

Dear Stathis, please accept my belated expression of appreciation for your excellent performance of the Three Greek Concertos. I appreciate very much that you sent a copy of the CD to me, and was pleased to listen to your expert playing. Congratulations! All good wishes for the future.

Eugene Rousseau. International Saxophone Soloist

Bravo, bravo.
